Pilar has been practicing different styles of yoga for years, but when she discovered Ashtanga Yoga in 2014 it turned her life upside down. She instantly fell in love with the practice, as she deeply connected with the profound and transformative experience of combining breath and meditation with movement.
She quit her job in the international media field and started traveling to Mysore, India, to practice with her teacher and Guru, Sharath Jois. That´s where following her heart decided to create “Balearic Retreats” and bring some of the Mysore Magic to her home island, Mallorca, Spain.
She has experience organizing retreats for very well known yoga teachers such as Laruga Glaser, Dany Sa, Ty Landrum, Philippa Asher and Harmony Slater.
Pilar is based now in Mallorca during the Retreats season, however she keeps traveling to Mysore yearly to deepen her studies and teaches both national and internationally.
Angie Gaebler did her first yoga teacher training in London in April 2014 and met Pilar during her 500-hour teacher training in Goa, India, one year later in October 2015. The two of them instantly connected and recognised that this would be the beginning of a deep and special friendship.
As well as being a yoga teacher Angie has a 10-year background in administration, so combining both of these passions within her job as production director at Balearic Retreats, and working alongside Pilar to create incredible yoga experiences here in Mallorca, is a dream come true!

Having never tried Ashtanga yoga before, I took private classes with Pilar during five consecutive days in August 2016. She was a fantastic teacher and I was amazed by the progress I made just in five days. It was such a great experience that I was completely hooked and joined a yoga studio immediately on my return back home, and have been practicing yoga regularly ever since. In those five days, Pilar managed to teach a complete beginner like me the basics that enabled me to start the Mysore-style practice without the need for any further beginner courses or special instruction. She also combined the physical practice with just the right amount of education and discussion on the other dimensions of yoga. In addition to being a great teacher, she was a charm to work with, and she really went out of her way to make my stay in Mallorca as enjoyable as possible, giving great tips on restaurants to visit, sights to see etc. I could not recommend her more warmly and look forward to participating in one of her retreats hopefully in the near future.
Director of the Yoga Workshop - Boulder, Colorado
Ty Landrum is the director of the Yoga Workshop in Boulder, Colorado. He teaches Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga as he learned it from his teachers, Mary Taylor and Richard Freeman.
Ty has been an Ashtanga practitioner since 2005. He was introduced to the method by Jennifer Elliott at Ashtanga Yoga Charlottesville, where he practiced for seven years. In 2012, after completing a doctoral degree in Philosophy from the University of Virginia, Ty moved to Boulder to study with Mary and Richard. Since then, under their guidance, he has learned some unspeakably wonderful things about the art of yoga.
In 2015, Mary and Richard asked Ty and his wife Shayan to assume ownership of their studio and to teach the Ashtanga method as they have taught it for so many years. Ty and Shayan are honored to continue the thread of the Ashtanga tradition at the Yoga Workshop, and to share the brilliance of yoga with anyone who wants to learn.
KPJAYI - Certified
After a vocational ballet school training from age twelve and twenty five years of studying and teaching dance at universities and ballet companies all over the UK, Philippa randomly walked into an Ashtanga yoga class in London. It was a life-changing incident, that made complete sense.
From London, Philippa Asher is now one of a few Ashtanga yoga practitioners in the world (and the only British woman), to be Certified to teach the traditional Ashtanga yoga method, by Sri K Pattabhi Jois. She has learned the Primary, Intermediate, Advanced A and Advanced B Series directly from Guruji and Sharath (at the Krishna Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India) and shares the Ashtanga system, internationally.
KPJAYI Authorised Level 2
Since a young age Laruga has been fascinated with mind/body connections and spiritual thought which later attracted her to the practice of yoga in 1996 after a sincere connection and study of yoga philosophy. It was not until she stumbled upon Ashtanga yoga when she began the journey, immersing herself into a devoted practice a few years later in 1998. Since then, she has continued to draw inspiration from her daily visit to the mat, along with long term studies of Ashtanga Yoga at KPJAYI in Mysore, India, practicing under the guidance of the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and who she considers her principle teacher and guide, his grandson R. Sharath Jois. Laruga has made 12 trips to KPJAYI and began her studies there after 10 years of established practice.
An advanced level practitioner and student of yoga as well as a Level 2 Authorized Teacher, Laruga entered into teaching after years of sustained practice and brings with her a combined total over 25 years experience instructing body movement. In turn, she is dedicated to teaching the method of Ashtanga yoga to its fullest capacity, cultivating transparency to the tradition, and the deeply rich lineage the practice originates, otherwise known as parampara. Through it all, Laruga teaches as an act of deep sharing and love for what yoga develops in each individual, facilitating space to open, challenge, and inspire those to realize their inherent potential.
Currently Laruga directs the Ashtanga Yoga program at Yogayama in Stockholm, Sweden and teaches workshops and retreats internationally.
KPJAYI - Certified
Harmony Slater has been teaching Ashtanga Yoga in the Mysore method for over a decade. She was first introduced to Yoga in 1995, and began practicing Ashtanga Yoga in 2000. She always had a keen interest in spirituality and the art of physical movement, which culminated in fifteen years of dance training and two BA degrees in Philosophy and Religious Studies.
In 2002, she traveled through China researching Buddhist meditation and in 2004 she made her first trip to Mysore, India. That same year she moved to South East Asia where she began a five year journey of living abroad and teaching Yoga Internationally. It was a blessing to spend prolonged periods of time practicing with Sri K Pattabhi Jois and his grandson R. Sharath Jois at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute, now the KPJAYI.
Harmony was given Authorization by Guruji in 2006, and was granted Certification by Paramaguru Sharath Jois in 2015. She is one less than 20 women in the world to hold this honor.
Over the years she co-founded two traditional Ashtanga Yoga Schools in Canada. The first was established in 2009, in Victoria, and the other is found in Calgary. With the birth of her son Jediah in 2011, life became full and sweet, as she experienced the deeper dawning of yoga within every aspect of daily life. She has a wealth of knowledge to draw upon and openly shares her insights about experiencing the full integration of Ashtanga Yoga during her workshops.
KPJAYI Authorised Level 2
Ballerina completed her studies at the University of dance in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in 1998.
In 2006 she began practicing regularly Ashtanga Yoga with Professor Matthew Vollmer in Rio de Janeiro and expanded her studies with Professor Clayton Horton in San Francisco- USA, where she became his assistant in the Ashtanga classes.
Dany traveled for the first time to Mysore in 2011 and began her studies with her teacher Sharath Jois being authorised level 2 in Oct 2103. She has perfected her studies at the Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI) annually attending specialization course for teachers and being her assistant.
She takes the practice of Ashtanga Yoga as a philosophy of life and believes that through this practice we can seek self-knowledge, achieving a better and happier way of living.
ASTRID HOLTE ØSTBYE
KPJAYI - Level II Authorized
Astrid was born and raised in the North of Norway, Tromsø. She went to her first Ashtanga class in 2003 while studying in Australia and straight away she was taken by this practice that through the years has had a great influence in her life. Since then she has had eight trips to Mysore, India, to study with her teacher Sharath Jois.
She is devoted to the lineage of Ashtanga Yoga and the method taught at the source, KPJAYI in Mysore. She is authorized level 2, has taught since 2010 and is a co-owner of a shala in Norway, Mysore Yoga Oslo, where she has run a daily Mysore program for the last three years.
Astrid will always be grateful to her first teachers that inspired her to practice and walk this path; Guillermo Benitez, Basia Lipska, Alexander Medin and Matt Corigliano.
ANNA SCOTT MILLER
RYT 500 (Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Meditation & Yin)
Anna comes from a background of movement. Mainly gymnastics, dancing, surfing and climbing. She studied Physical Education and worked with kids and adults in the fitness & educational field for 10 years.
Yoga was the link to combine her skills of teaching, coaching, personal development and working with people. So she quit her job in higher education to teach yoga full-time. As you can have fun, take care of the body and mind, which is so needed in the times we live in.
The holistic philosophy of yoga includes it all and she loves to share this beautiful practice as much as possible.
Her classes are active and relaxing at the same time with a lot of room to explore your own capabilities, on and off the mat.
She practices yoga for years, with a daily Ashtanga practice since 2014 and is constantly expanding her knowledge by attending workshops and studying with her teachers.
KPJAYI - Level II Authorized
Bibi Lorenzetti is a New York City based Level II Authorized Ashtanga Yoga Teacher & certified Holistic Health Coach. She received her blessing to teach Ashtanga Yoga in 2014 from the Sri K. Patthabi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI) in Mysore India where she frequently assisted renowned guru R. Sharath Jois. She has since been featured in Glamour Italy Magazine(Oct 2015) and has privately taught many high-profile entertainers and business moguls. She co-runs the Ashtanga program at the Shala Yoga House and teaches privately.
Bibi is based in NYC where she currently co-runs the morning and afternoon Mysore programs at the Shala Yoga House. Over the past 6 years, Bibi has become a sincere believer in the profound beauty and many benefits of this method. Her teaching is rooted in her own disciplined and dedicated practice.
She intends to share the transformative and healing practice of Ashtanga Yoga with her students through accessible, intelligent, and precise instruction. Bibi guides her students to use asana as a tool to cultivate a deeper awareness of one’s body, a steady & clear mind, and a healthy, ease-filled life.
Clare has been teaching yoga classes, privates and workshops in NYC since 2006. She received her original certification at Cyndi Lee’s OM Yoga where she taught weekly classes until the studio closed in 2012. She holds additional certifications in Prenatal Yoga (Mia Borgatta & Dr Eden Fromberg, 2007) and Restorative Yoga (Judith Lasater, 2009). She has studied meditation with Sharon Salzberg, Cyndi Lee and David Nichtern, and anatomy with many teachers over the years. She is on the faculty at Awakened Life School of Yoga where she developed the curriculum for their Yoga Alliance registered 85-hr Prenatal YogaTeacher Training which she now teaches internationally.
KRISTINE MARIE ROST
Yin Yoga Teacher
In Denmark, they call her the Queen of Yin Yoga. And for a good reason! Kristine Marie Rost has done more than 1,000 hours of Yin Yoga and Yin therapy training. She has been working with therapists and doctors educated in Western and Chinese medicine. And she has taught over 4000 Yin Yoga classes and is now training teachers herself as well as assisting her Asian mentor, Victor Chng, at his Yin Yoga teacher trainings in Singapore and Denmark. Kristine is Ms. Yin, and she is here to help the rest of us get our dose of Yin to our Yang, too.
Kristine has experienced firsthand knowledge of how Yin Yoga helps you handle the ups and downs that life has to offer you. How it enables you to just be yourself and live life without the burdens of old feelings and sentiments. And how it strengthens your ability to find the beauty of life, even on rainy days. This is the main reason for her Yin passion and the reason why she is so eager to spread the word and feeling of Yin Yoga.
Kristine is known for her caring and radiant personality, her laughter, profound knowledge and her ability to gently challenge you to try the important little bits that make all the difference. Yin Yoga with Kristine is not a restorative class. It is a quiet practice that will ground and relax you, yet it is powerful and demanding at the same time. During it all, you will feel safe under her competent guidance. And whether you are new to Yin or an experienced yogi, you will feel the effect of body and mind after a Yin session with Kristine.

Lakshya is a yoga teacher originally from Holland but based in India since 2010. She teaches Hatha and Yin Yoga, as well as Sanskrit and chanting. After completing her first Yoga Teacher Training in 2010, Lakshya studied Vedanta (Indian philosophy) in depth, during a three year residential course in South India. This made her fall in love with the country as well its traditions. She teaches yoga in Mumbai and incorporates Vedic Teachings into her classes. She is very passionate about wellbeing and living a healthy lifestyle, and shares this with her students as well. Lakshya holds retreats in different parts of India, as well as the rest of the world.
Maja started practicing yoga in her hometown of Stockholm, Sweden more than 20 years ago. After moving to NYC she was drawn to delve deeper into the practice of yoga and completed her first teacher training at OM yoga center in 2006 where she then joined the teaching faculty. Since then she has completed her 500 hr certification, also at OM yoga center, as well as many other trainings such as Restorative yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater, Anatomy studies with Leslie Kaminoff at the Breathing Project and Prenatal teacher training with Bec Conant.
Melissa is an experienced E-RYT500 yoga teacher and a Lululemon brand ambassador known for her dynamic Vinyasa flow classes and her integration of the philosophy of yoga into everyday life.
Melissa discovered yoga in 2004 during a transitional period of her life. In 2009, she made the decision to leave the security of regular employment and travelled to the Brahmani Centre in Goa for what was to become multiple teacher trainings with Julie Martin.
She has since been teaching Vinyasa flow in Dubai, with seasonal teaching travels to India. Her dedication to finding truth within herself translates into a commitment to teach yoga from a place of authenticity and integrity.
For Melissa, the practice of yoga increases self-awareness, creating a deeper relationship between the mind, body and spirit and cultivating peace and understanding in everyone’s life.
Born in Israel, Talia, along with her family relocated to New York early in her life.
Growing up in a structured, religious, Jewish environment pushed Talia to explore spirituality for herself from a young age. She was first introduced to yoga and meditation at age 6, when her mom integrated these practices into her lifestyle to beat lymphoma.
Talia sees nothing as external to her studies: She has learned impeccable skill and technique from masters of ballet, yoga and art. Equally, she finds sensitivity, intuition and insight are to be found through connection with the seemingly ordinary world of animals and trees and that no teacher is greater than the one within.
Talia has recently relocated to Jerusalem, Israel where she lives with her husband Ezra. She is excited, humbled and honored at the opportunity to delve deeper into the wisdom of her personal lineage while spreading her love of yoga worldwide
KPJAYI, Level 1
She discovered the practice of Ashtanga Yoga in 2009. In 2014 she traveled to Mysuru to study with her Paramaguru R Sharath Jois at KPJAYI, she has returned yearly to India to further her studies. In 2016 she received the blessing to teach Ashtanga Yoga by Paramaguru Sharath Jois.
In 2015 she started teaching Ashtanga Yoga and in 2016 she moved to Beijing to start a Mysore program where she teaches traditional Ashtanga (also called Mysore style or self-practice).
In 2016, she attended the one-month intensive course with well-known ashtanga teacher Richard Freeman.
KPJAYI, Level 2
Russell Case has been practicing and teaching Ashtanga yoga for more than 25 years. A humble and refined teacher, he was given Authorization by Sri K Pattabhi Jois in 2005. Russell is known for his joking spirit and his perpetual eye toward social justice work. When Pattabhi Jois invited him to his pranayama class in 2007, he considered this distinction to be the highest grade.
As the Director of Partnerships for the Pure Edge Foundation, a non-profit company that brings yoga-based exercises and mindfulness programs into schools throughout the USA, he is known for his creative delivery of experiential presentations on neuroscience for social and emotional learning. Russell has been teaching Ashtanga Yoga in the Mysore Method since 2001 and has taught programs in NYC, Brighton England, Taipei Taiwan, San Francisco, and currently, is the Ashtanga Yoga Director for Stanford University.
Luke Jordan has been a dedicated student of Yoga for the last 20 years. As well as being a Certified teacher in the Ashtanga tradition, he holds a Masters degree in Indian philosophy and is a student of Vedic chanting. In sharing the Ashtanga method he draws on and integrates insights born from his study of the wider yoga tradition in its physical, philosophical and mythological aspects
500hr YTT certified
Janice is an international yoga teacher based in NJ who first found the benefits of a spiritual practice back in 2007. After several years of practicing calm and stillness, she was surprised to have fallen in love with the physical practices of dynamic movement in 2015. Her classes strive to marry the two - the yin with the yang - to create a balanced flow that is both strong and energizing yet soft and calming. She strongly believes that the physical practice of asana (a sort of moving meditation) translates into practices of mental and emotional wellbeing - that self-empowerment can be found through dynamic synchronicity between breath, body, and mind.
As a teacher, her goal is to facilitate the students' mind-body connection through breath and mindful movement, providing space for students to explore the inner-self on a deeper level. Her creative sequencing is designed to empower students - showing them that there is more to discover within themselves.
KPJAYI Authorized level 2
Born on the South coast of Brazil, Aline Fernandes has traveled the world before making New York her base nearly 15 years ago working as a Fashion Model.
After moving to New York in 2002 she took up Ashtanga Yoga, and while continuing her modeling career, and studied regularly with Eddie Stern of Ashtanga Yoga New York. This practice kept her balanced and centered, helping her persevere in the chaos of the big city.
Inspired by what she learnt Aline pursued this path and went to India in 2003 in order to study under the guidance of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Jois. After that she made yearly trips to India to study with her teachers.
She is authorized level 2 by KPJAYI (India) enabling her to teach the Ashtanga Yoga method. She also studied Transcendental Meditation at the David Lynch Foundation and Vedic Meditation with Tom Knoles.
Aline’s philosophy and approach to teaching emphasizes the transformative quality of the Ashtanga Yoga practice in which movement and breath are synchronized, shifting our perspective to build a comprehensive and accurate conception of who we are and helping us to perceive essential truths about our true nature. Through regular practice, the body will become stronger, purified and aligned, and the mind will grow steady.
Aline assisted Eddie Stern from 2008 until 2013 and taught at AYNY (Ashtanga Yoga New York) during the same period. Also taught at Tumblr’s NYC Headquarters, Nike and led workshops and retreats in Brazil, Hawaii, Uruguay and Spain. She has also taught a children’s yoga class at Lycee Francais in NYC and was part of a program at Long Island University ( NY ) teaching Yoga for people over weight.
She lives between NYC and Brazil where she has been sharing the yoga practice. Names like Diana Picasso, Gaia Repossi and Jessica Biel have taken her classes.
All her Yoga Retreats have a sustainable approach, supporting local environmental and social projects and organizations.
She runs Vida Yogi, a platform that shares this yoga practice all over the world and spreading the method to vulnerable communities and environments
