February 8-14, 2020

This is a two week retreat and we encourage you to have the full experience, however we understand your life commitments so its also available for one week only.

Visualization is one of the most potent modes of traditional Tantric and Hatha Yoga practice. Though often used alone, visualization can be combined with any practice that works with energetic forces. The impact of visualization owes to the fact that wherever attention goes, prana follows. So we can use attention to draw prana into auspicious patterns, and also to enhance its natural rhythm and flow, to uncover the fluid dynamism and inherent spaciousness of the mind.

Ashtanga Vinyasa is all about moving the subtle currents of the breath to give us a more fluid experience of ourselves, and to help us flow more elegantly with the ever shifting nature of reality. When we learn to visualize these currents, merging in sensitive places all over the body, the ritual comes alive, and the impact on our experience becomes truly profound.

This intensive will explore the practice of visualization in the context of Ashtanga. It will involve some fairly sophisticated somatic exploration, but established Ashtanga practitioners of all levels of physical ability are absolutely encouraged to participate. The program will involve morning Mysore practices, followed by Pranayama and Chanting, then a series of afternoon workshops to look more closely into our theme. You are warmly invited to join us for this special exploration.

Director of the Yoga Workshop - Boulder, Colorado

Ty Landrum is the director of the Yoga Workshop in Boulder, Colorado. He teaches Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga as he learned it from his teachers, Mary Taylor and Richard Freeman.

Ty has been an Ashtanga practitioner since 2005. He was introduced to the method by Jennifer Elliott at Ashtanga Yoga Charlottesville, where he practiced for seven years. In 2012, after completing a doctoral degree in Philosophy from the University of Virginia, Ty moved to Boulder to study with Mary and Richard. Since then, under their guidance, he has learned some unspeakably wonderful things about the art of yoga.

In 2015, Mary and Richard asked Ty and his wife Shayan to assume ownership of their studio and to teach the Ashtanga method as they have taught it for so many years. Ty and Shayan are honored to continue the thread of the Ashtanga tradition at the Yoga Workshop, and to share the brilliance of yoga with anyone who wants to learn.
